Women's Panel Speaker

Marimo Higa is the founding member and principal of Believe House, a nighttime nursery in Okinawa that provides early childhood education and care for children of night-shift workers. As a mother of two herself, she deeply understands the challenges working parents face, and is committed to creating a nurturing environment where children can feel safe, loved, and empowered.

Drawing from her personal parenting experience and her passion for social change, Marimo runs Believe House with a focus on fostering children’s independence and sense of agency. She believes that early childhood education plays a crucial role in helping children build confidence, develop emotional resilience, and grow into compassionate individuals.

Marimo is currently pursuing her degree at the University of Maryland Global Campus and serves as a regional representative of the TOMODACHI Community. She envisions a world where every child—regardless of their background or circumstances—has access to quality education and care. Through Believe House, she strives to create an inclusive, forward-thinking model of childcare that not only supports children but also uplifts their families and communities.
