During my student years, I spent over 100 days a year in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture.  It was during that time that I began to feel a strong desire to “create a business from Kesennuma that can compete on a global scale.”

In 2019, I relocated to Kesennuma.  Believing that “we can’t win by only doing what can already be done in Tokyo,” I saw untapped potential in the fishing industry—the lifeline of Kesennuma—and founded amu Inc., a company focused on upcycling discarded fishing gear into valuable resources.
